BLOODY SUNDAY

I thought I'd try something very different than what I've been doing thus far. I was in a kind of violent mood and I got thinking of a particular symphony I once heard by Shostakovich about the 'Bloody Sunday' events of 1905 in Russia.
It was January 22, 1905. A large group of peaceful protestors (some 300,000) led by a priest, Father Gapon went to deliver a petition to Tsar Nicholas II at the Winter Palace about strikes going on all over Russia for workers' rights. They were gunned down in cold blood by the Imperial Guard without any warning. About 4,000 people died that day.
It is a fascinating and chilling thing to hear, but I highly recommend listening to it once. It gives one an appreciation for what we have in the United States.

It starts out quietly with a kind of march—slow and mournful with an almost menacing melody in the background. Trumpets sound a warning tocsin. Strings pulse, kettle drums throb. Flutes play an innocent tragic tune. This carries on for a while to build the unease and tension. You know something terrible is coming.
In the second movement the trumpets build, drums pound. The guards are approaching and still the people march on unaware. Then everything builds to an uncomfortable point of unease and foreboding.

FullGive (Day 10)

Skate or die... I was looking through an old skate mag and the look and feel of the magazine itself really reflected the look and feel of fullgive. So I found some graphics and colors that fit into the gamut of one of fullgive's styles and threw them on a skate deck for a mood board pic.

Cable Table reDesign.010

Going back to the roots of why the Cable Table was invented. My audience was lifehacker.com and the people who follow the tips and advice of their blog and 43folders.org (by Merlin Mann). This is a photo of just a few of the tools I use in my own life to become more efficient and a better lifehacker.

knowledge

knowledge is a major part for the practitioner of kenpo. The books i have chosen to photograph have a connection to the Martial arts. Philosophy, arts, and science are all subjects that influence and apply to the knowledge gained from Martial arts. If you really want to know how each book is relevant, just ask.

living H

What if we were to ask the better question, not how we want to live or where or what do we want to have, but how do we make and escape of where we are. A careful study at the fringe of the idea of appeasement.

This piece was derived while listening to "Living", by Moby.

Snuggly and warm perfect for cocoa time!
I was attracted to colors in this piece fabric and chose the other textures and colors to compliment it.

i'm an idea-bot

the text says it all.

this is about the contrast between the three-dimensional world and the two-dimensional world: always fascinating. inspired by the kitchen. as usual for me

till next time

Day 10

I was going for my original idea from day 1 for this and collected images that would give the mood of relaxation with the sound and flow of water. The colors are chosen to closely reflect natural tones to intensify this mood as well.

Freudentisch vs Slush

These colors were inspired by a combination of slush drinks and malt shoppes. The vibrant yellow and blue represent energy, youth and life. The eggshell white is a neutral color to balance the energy of the brighter colors. This mood represents a modern interpretation of nostalgia, similar to how the table pet is a modern interpretation of a pet rock.

opera

I was in an opera mood today and wanted to give a flavor of it in the black top hat, the white gloves, the rose, etc. Of course now days people are so casual that some don't dress up at all. But people used to get in their fancy evening wear and go out looking their best.
I was also playing around with type samples and wanted to match the kind of type faces I thought might represent the composer which is why there are so many variations.
And maybe this is too much, but I couldn't resist the urge to throw in the Viking helmet cliche worn so often by beefy women who have the voice capacity to shatter glass and ear drums.
Opera is sensational!
Beach mood for suite furniture or cabana. nothing else cool to say.

Clutter vs. Clean - who will win?

With today's mood board I wanted to convey to opposing moods, the stressed and lazy feeling associated with clutter and the satisfaction associated with tidy surroundings.

A Tribute to Delta!

So once again I have been in a really graffiti style type mood. I was wanting to do something dealing with it but at the same time I really wanted to do something different. Then I remembered a graffiti artist that I really liked in high school. His name is Boris Tellegen a.k.a. Delta. He does this really awesome geometric art but all with spray paint so he actually considers himself a fine artist, which I agree on. His stuff is amazing so I recommend you check it out. As for my mood board I drew out a bunch of little pieces that resemble Delta's work and then fit them all together and put a little background texture color behind it.

glo makes everything like a fairy tale.

Day ? : sorrow/uneasy
