science of the art

I wanted to do a mood board on the math and science behind the martial arts. The simple equations of how it works. Angles, directions, power, speed, these are all critical factors in self defense, but are not always addressed. even the muscle structure and nerve locations provide a crucial science for the practitioner. I want to revisit this idea at another time and fine tune the visual aspect of it.

Drama Sucks

Drama sucks....off with her head!

awkwardness

this image feels like my day.

emphasis on:
text
color
pattern
texture

all in a slightly awkward aesthetic. it feels amateur but intuitive. not designed very well but somehow, it comes together. i would explain this as the designer's version of a snapshot.

on a completely unrelated note, i have to share with you guys the best quote of the day: "i'm a triple threat. if i can't get you one way, i've got another. and if that doesn't work, i still have one last-ditch effort."

fullGive (Day 8)

Today it is all about textures. Fullgive is all about the tactile nature and the physical experience of handling these textures; which goes hand in hand with the inspiration behind the creation of all of fullgive's products. The physicality involved with the creation and the use of anything fullgive, creates actual physical and emotional connections between the user/creator and the product.

The Thirst of "flamenca"

I'm using these mood boards to extract varying implications of the brand, while still allowing it to be exotic and seductive.

Today I'm exploring the arid appitite of my brand. The Sahara Desert is a harsh, unforgiving oven by day and a potentially fatal freezer by night. Within these paradoxes is the beauty. Nightfall yields spectacular environmental changes. "flamenca" yields spectacular desires in humans.

Squeezed between Polarities

It is interesting how a single or grouping of singularities can produce evidence of a paradox. This type of compression between the quantifiable and the irrational produces a unique camp of subjectivity. This anomaly in relation to all the arts including dance, music, culinary, etc., only happens in the visual arts known as fine arts.

Day 9: Ice Cold

My mood board got frozen!! So I put things in the ice that remind me of the cold. Well the face had this blue tint to it and that is why I have it there.

Day 8

Since it's getting so close to Christmas break I have been thinking about my first long plane trip in a long time. So that's what this mood board came out as today. I tried to capture different ways to portray traveling, like the passport, plane, signs, and how can you go on a trip without a camera?

Cable Table reDesign.008

Went back to my sketched, arsty re-invention and expanded on it. The robot in the bottom right is from instructables.com, a website that perfectly matches the idea of this version of the cable table. Personalized, customized, easy to assemble but easy to disassemble and add to as well!

Tay, I mean Day 8

So if you can see through all of this mess there is food... sorta... But with the combination of some of these and or the use of other items there is a use of everything to make your tummy nice and full of food. Now if food can't say MOOD BOARD, then I don't know what does.

Freudentisch vs Rubber Rats

Today's focal colors were gray, black, and orange. Naturally, these colors would conjure images of Halloween. In the original Freudentisch marketing plan, there was a concept sketched out for holiday tables; you know, ones that featured different holiday faces. I began to consider what would best represent the attitude of those holidays. I decided rats (specifically stretchable plastic rats, because they're the most disgusting). This brought into question about what would happen if I covered the table with that same awkward rubber as these rats are made out of? To many people it is a displeasing texture, so, naturally, it would make a great 'no-slip' surface for a Halloween candy dispensing table. (Gross, right?)

holiday cheer?

being that there are holidays coming up, i was thinking of christmas and thanksgiving and that sort of stuff. one thing that comes to mind is all that time you spend with family. sure it can be nice, but other times it just makes people frustrated and angry and it can get difficult to really enjoy the holiday! this version of the drink will be for those people that are finding the holidays difficult to get along with family. the mood board i created is supposed to represent all the happy things about the holidays which is exactly what i think would be cool if an energy drink could help you make it through such holidays without all the stress and allows you to be completely happy and joyful. :)

La niche

With this mood I decided to go with a more classy feel. I wanted to romanticize my brand, for a more sophisticated (or want to be's) target audience. I know a lot of people out there who don't like pastels or muted tones, and that is what I have been working with thus far, so I wanted to branch out and try a different angle. There are still natural elements being used, such as handmade paper, feathers.

I Like Her Curves...

This morning, I was walking past this truck that was an exquisite fire engine red color and the yellow leaves that had fallen on the ground were making an extremely beautiful reflective color. This set my mood for the whole day when thinking about my Glo Logo. But as the day progressed my mood slightly evolved to more just admire high-end cars in general; like their color, shape, power, curves, etc. So now I hope you can see how my mood board evolved.

Mood "environment"?

I decided to take a picture of the corner and wall of my room. This is the spot where all of my work gets done, no matter what "homework" it is. I do it in this area. Because I've got everything from my computer to about 5 plants on this side alone, I tried to get a decent picture of everything I tried to use to create a good creative place for myself to get my work done.

Seasons

Today I experimented with a seasonal mood. I found materials representing each of the four seasons and used the table top as a canvas for them. The idea being that the product is able to change and adapt to your style during anytime, no matter what season it may be.

Suites Gourmet Candies

I'd like you all to notice my lovely lattice work. So what if suites was a play on words for the best kind of sweet, candy! and cakes of course. I was thinking a neutral color pallet and the colors shown are more of the accents. A little classier than your average bulk candy store and i even made a cute little logo for it. Don't get too hungry. I know its tempting.

Jazz on a Tuesday Afternoon

Today I decided to go in another musical direction into the atmosphere of jazz.
I thought I'd include some colors, textures, instruments and such. (Thanks Lindsay for suggesting the Paula Scher Jazz sign that was a nice contribution).

FRESH

I wanted to portray the feeling of freshness with my mood board today. The colors and pictures I used are all things that depict fresh.
