Day 2 - Braille Marquee

Today I explored other possible uses for Altable, such as a marquee of sorts for the blind. I cut a wooden dowel up into a bunch of 1/2" pieces and used them to create the characters. The peg and hole system was perfect for creating the braille characters since they are based on a grid as well. The board would be used to create large braille letters to attract attention to the blind, much like we use large letters on billboards to attract the attention of drivers. The beauty of the system is in the ease of use. Simply push the pegs in or take them out as needed. Write and message then switch it up when needed. And in case you were wondering, the board in the picture spells out:

Altable
Braille
Marquee

Hey great idea! I really like the intriguing new idea. So where did you get the braille translations?

awesome. how long did this take you?

I found the braille translations online. The project took me about an hour and a half, most of which was cutting the dowel into pieces since I only had an exacto knife to do it with.

You know what this reminds me of? You remember the light wall that you put pegs in a make picture out of, like a clown? What was that toy called?
