A Tribute to Delta!

So once again I have been in a really graffiti style type mood. I was wanting to do something dealing with it but at the same time I really wanted to do something different. Then I remembered a graffiti artist that I really liked in high school. His name is Boris Tellegen a.k.a. Delta. He does this really awesome geometric art but all with spray paint so he actually considers himself a fine artist, which I agree on. His stuff is amazing so I recommend you check it out. As for my mood board I drew out a bunch of little pieces that resemble Delta's work and then fit them all together and put a little background texture color behind it.

glo makes everything like a fairy tale.

Day ? : sorrow/uneasy

CCMA....Get dressed up!

Cedar City Music Arts.....a reason to get dressed up sometimes.

desert

i went on a night hike. turns out that can be a little more treacherous than you might first imagine it to be.

todays moodboard was inspired by our local landscape. these towering red rocks, endless blue sky and scrubby bushes are always fascinating to me for some reason.

hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I was thinking how some schools are very strict and some are not at all. And I came from a strict school of karate. We used tape on the floor as markers and distance trackers so that we can make sure we where within parameters, lines where strait, angles were right. They were a point of reference, and during some drills, they were the only point of reference. I wanted to bring this to my project. The idea that tape can influence the way your world is structured.

fullGive (Day 9)

Introducing the aspiring business professional, a new line of fullgive cases designed to give you the confidence and style needed to set you apart from the rest of the monkeys in suits.

easy petals

Warm blossom filled days skipping through clouds and nights sailing along a river of stars. Someone works very hard to keep things rolling smoothly for her. Moods change, but circumstances may not. We were all 4 years old once.

texture

i made this one more about the texture of what the drink would be like and came up with smooth (using soft textured cloth) but with an edge to it (the jagged paper).

Day 9

Everyday the floor in the living room of my apartment is usually cluttered with something that relates to a creative side. For the past few days there has been much sewing pursued, so I wanted to capture what you would need for basic sewing needs. Textures of fabrics and utensils to get the job done is definitely something I believe would get the job done.

Sweet Suites

Somehow everything i do ends up relating to candy. The silk swatches are the colors i chose for this mood. Some furniture, packaging, and examples of some products sold in the shop. Oh and digital chocolate art. It a store devoted entirely to chocolate, need i say more...

Day 8

So sometimes my mood board is AWESOME. And when I say awesome I mean cool. And when I say cool I mean untouchable. And what I mean by untouchable I mean that no one but me really knows where I am going or will go next with this. Please stay tuned for the next installment from, Mert-O-Matic.

Childlike

My brand is aimed directly at children and tried to portray their geniune happy character.

How "I" look at music

I wanted to get a straight on view of a few "things" that remind me of the music I listen too, why I listen too it. What motivates one to listen to music, and again how I relate to it.

Cable Table reDesign.009

Last week I mentioned that I am definitely one those people who don't mind things being shown (rather than hidden and tucked away) as long as they are organized and arrange in a pleasing manner. I found some examples in my own room to show what I mean by that.

Freudentisch vs Culture

Color, Culture, Texture

I have always loved the colors of this particular assortment of 'legumes.' It has split peas, red beans, navy beans, lentils, etc. I decided to use that as a palette. It is full of warm, earthy tones that give the feeling of comfort and home. So, what else personifies home? One's culture, of course. I decided to go with the mood of Asian culture, specifically 'Americanized' Asian. To complete the 'home-made, like-mother-used-to-make' feeling I began to investigate the texture of plants. I found this beautiful clump of dried leaves. So, with the color of the beans, the 'Asian-American' culture, and a texture that is straight-from-the-garden, I think there's something here that can speak to people who grew up in an eclectic home. Life may feel busy sometimes, like this picture suggests, but it is all held together by the same recurring feelings of warmth and belonging.

Soothing music for a Tuesday Afternoon

Greetings bloggers and designers.
Today I am attempting to capture something soothing with elements from the ocean with a piece of piano. If anyone is interested I am going to make a soothing music track to listen to for finals week with sounds from the ocean, with rain, nature, soothing music etc. Good things to listen to when you're trying NOT to freak out with everything coming due. This mood board is to remind myself to breathe, relax, take time to nurture myself and live in the moment.
(I scanned this image in so I'm afraid the quality isn't as good as I'd like. The bottom box isn't white, but an image of sand).

funk-a-dunk

Today's mood was FUNK.. I wanted to change my target audience to the youth. The colors and patterns I have be chosen to express a young and fresh feeling.

What Day am I on? : 9/10

I wanted an earthly feeling.

Graffiti Again!

I don't know why I continue to be in the mood for making graffiti type art... but it doesnt really matter to me, because I like it a lot! Anyway this is my kinda mood board art type collage. I drew out different things in the form of graffiti then cut them out then put them all out on a wall again in the general kind of shape of my Glo Logo.

I was thinking that since Altable was such an adaptable product, it could probably fit into most any environment it was placed in. So, today I experimented with how the product would feel in a modern-ish, clean, straight, and angular room setting with neutral brown color schemes.

science of the art

I wanted to do a mood board on the math and science behind the martial arts. The simple equations of how it works. Angles, directions, power, speed, these are all critical factors in self defense, but are not always addressed. even the muscle structure and nerve locations provide a crucial science for the practitioner. I want to revisit this idea at another time and fine tune the visual aspect of it.

Drama Sucks

Drama sucks....off with her head!

awkwardness

this image feels like my day.

all in a slightly awkward aesthetic. it feels amateur but intuitive. not designed very well but somehow, it comes together. i would explain this as the designer's version of a snapshot.

on a completely unrelated note, i have to share with you guys the best quote of the day: "i'm a triple threat. if i can't get you one way, i've got another. and if that doesn't work, i still have one last-ditch effort."

fullGive (Day 8)

Today it is all about textures. Fullgive is all about the tactile nature and the physical experience of handling these textures; which goes hand in hand with the inspiration behind the creation of all of fullgive's products. The physicality involved with the creation and the use of anything fullgive, creates actual physical and emotional connections between the user/creator and the product.

The Thirst of "flamenca"

I'm using these mood boards to extract varying implications of the brand, while still allowing it to be exotic and seductive.

Today I'm exploring the arid appitite of my brand. The Sahara Desert is a harsh, unforgiving oven by day and a potentially fatal freezer by night. Within these paradoxes is the beauty. Nightfall yields spectacular environmental changes. "flamenca" yields spectacular desires in humans.

Squeezed between Polarities

It is interesting how a single or grouping of singularities can produce evidence of a paradox. This type of compression between the quantifiable and the irrational produces a unique camp of subjectivity. This anomaly in relation to all the arts including dance, music, culinary, etc., only happens in the visual arts known as fine arts.

Day 9: Ice Cold

My mood board got frozen!! So I put things in the ice that remind me of the cold. Well the face had this blue tint to it and that is why I have it there.

Day 8

Since it's getting so close to Christmas break I have been thinking about my first long plane trip in a long time. So that's what this mood board came out as today. I tried to capture different ways to portray traveling, like the passport, plane, signs, and how can you go on a trip without a camera?

Cable Table reDesign.008

Went back to my sketched, arsty re-invention and expanded on it. The robot in the bottom right is from instructables.com, a website that perfectly matches the idea of this version of the cable table. Personalized, customized, easy to assemble but easy to disassemble and add to as well!

Tay, I mean Day 8

So if you can see through all of this mess there is food... sorta... But with the combination of some of these and or the use of other items there is a use of everything to make your tummy nice and full of food. Now if food can't say MOOD BOARD, then I don't know what does.

Freudentisch vs Rubber Rats

Today's focal colors were gray, black, and orange. Naturally, these colors would conjure images of Halloween. In the original Freudentisch marketing plan, there was a concept sketched out for holiday tables; you know, ones that featured different holiday faces. I began to consider what would best represent the attitude of those holidays. I decided rats (specifically stretchable plastic rats, because they're the most disgusting). This brought into question about what would happen if I covered the table with that same awkward rubber as these rats are made out of? To many people it is a displeasing texture, so, naturally, it would make a great 'no-slip' surface for a Halloween candy dispensing table. (Gross, right?)

holiday cheer?

being that there are holidays coming up, i was thinking of christmas and thanksgiving and that sort of stuff. one thing that comes to mind is all that time you spend with family. sure it can be nice, but other times it just makes people frustrated and angry and it can get difficult to really enjoy the holiday! this version of the drink will be for those people that are finding the holidays difficult to get along with family. the mood board i created is supposed to represent all the happy things about the holidays which is exactly what i think would be cool if an energy drink could help you make it through such holidays without all the stress and allows you to be completely happy and joyful. :)

La niche

With this mood I decided to go with a more classy feel. I wanted to romanticize my brand, for a more sophisticated (or want to be's) target audience. I know a lot of people out there who don't like pastels or muted tones, and that is what I have been working with thus far, so I wanted to branch out and try a different angle. There are still natural elements being used, such as handmade paper, feathers.

I Like Her Curves...

This morning, I was walking past this truck that was an exquisite fire engine red color and the yellow leaves that had fallen on the ground were making an extremely beautiful reflective color. This set my mood for the whole day when thinking about my Glo Logo. But as the day progressed my mood slightly evolved to more just admire high-end cars in general; like their color, shape, power, curves, etc. So now I hope you can see how my mood board evolved.

Mood "environment"?

I decided to take a picture of the corner and wall of my room. This is the spot where all of my work gets done, no matter what "homework" it is. I do it in this area. Because I've got everything from my computer to about 5 plants on this side alone, I tried to get a decent picture of everything I tried to use to create a good creative place for myself to get my work done.

Seasons

Today I experimented with a seasonal mood. I found materials representing each of the four seasons and used the table top as a canvas for them. The idea being that the product is able to change and adapt to your style during anytime, no matter what season it may be.

Suites Gourmet Candies

I'd like you all to notice my lovely lattice work. So what if suites was a play on words for the best kind of sweet, candy! and cakes of course. I was thinking a neutral color pallet and the colors shown are more of the accents. A little classier than your average bulk candy store and i even made a cute little logo for it. Don't get too hungry. I know its tempting.

Jazz on a Tuesday Afternoon

Today I decided to go in another musical direction into the atmosphere of jazz.
I thought I'd include some colors, textures, instruments and such. (Thanks Lindsay for suggesting the Paula Scher Jazz sign that was a nice contribution).

FRESH

I wanted to portray the feeling of freshness with my mood board today. The colors and pictures I used are all things that depict fresh.
