Is there a reason you are going with a deck of cards? I think it's a good idea because you'll have 52 cards to show variety in humans and what we are like. Right now, the connection between playing cards and humans is unclear to me.
I think this is a great idea and you should keep going with it. Maybe try and narrow down what you want to put on the cards. Also what will your capsule look like?
I thought about your concept this morning. I think your idea of using a deck of cards is awesome- but-why not make it a different size, not necessarily the same old playing cards with things on it. Make them square or something? The aliens will never make the connection unless you leave them in vegas :) haha
So I had a few people look over my project. One person said "It looks like YOUR work. I like the way it is stylized. It is bright and I feel like the pictures flow together well."
another person said, "fun illustrations. i like the bright colors...and as far as what people will think it means...well they will have to just come to their own conclusions."

I love your deck of cards idea, i think it would be really fun to be able to express ideas that way.
